Otto Hixson Russell, 85, of Ashland, Ky., died Jan. 19, 2006, in King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.

Mr. Russell was born July 12, 1920, in Catlettsburg, Ky., a son of the late Otto M. and Elizabeth Hixson Russell.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eileen Russell; and a brother, Ralph William Russell.

Mr. Russell retired as an associate accounting manager for the Kentucky Power Company with 38 years of service. He also served in the Army Air Corps as a radioman and was stationed in Northern Africa during WWII.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church and graduated from Thomas Brown High School in Catlettsburg. He attended Marshall University and the University of Michigan and was a member of the Grand Lodge of Kentucky F & AM and the Hampton Lodge 235 since 1948.

Surviving are a son, David Russell and his wife, Rita, of Ashland; daughters, Nancy Russell Mitchell of Fort Thomas, Ky., and Jennie Russell Williams and her husband, Pete, of Ashland; granddaughters, Megan Russell Wallace and her husband, Craig, and Rebekah Williams of Ashland; a great-granddaughter, Morgan Paige Wallace; a niece, Mary Elizabeth Russell Brislin of Loveland, Ohio; and nephews, Ralph W. Russell II of Richmond, Va., Richard Willet Russell of Lexington, Ky., and Randall Wayne Russell of Frankfort, Ky.

Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22, 2006, at Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel in Ashland by Dr. Lee Gussler III. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.

Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Community Hospice, 1538 Central Ave., Ashland, KY 41101.
