William H. “Bill” Nolte, 83, a resident of Trinity Station in Flatwoods, died Jan. 22, 2006, at his residence.
Mr. Nolte was born Dec. 14, 1922, in Ashland, Ky., a son of the late W.H. and Margarette Kouns Nolte.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lelia Griffith Nolte, who passed away in 2003; and three brothers, Tommy Joe Nolte, Roy L. Nolte and Roland Nolte.
He was a retired Ashland Oil employee and a veteran of World War II, Army Corps of Engineers.
Mr. Nolte, a 1941 graduate of Ashland High School, was a member of Normal Presbyterian Church and BPO Elks Lodge 350. He was a 32nd degree Mason with Hampton Masonic Lodge 235 and served on the board of directors of the American Red Cross Boyd County Chapter.
Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, John and Suzanne Nolte of College Park, Ga.; a daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Robert Holt of Villa Hills, Ky.; a sister, Merna Patton of Amherst, N.Y.; grandsons and granddaughters-in-law, Rob Holt and his wife, Kristin, and Kevin Holt and his wife, Jennifer, all of northern Kentucky; and three great-grandchildren, Molly, Anna and Bret Holt.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Susan Alley. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
