James William Hardin, 72, of Ashland, Ky., died Sunday morning, Jan. 29, 2006, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.

Mr. Hardin was born May 26, 1933, in Siloam, Ky., a son of the late K.C. Hardin Sr. and Norsie L. Martin Hardin.

He was retired from the Kentucky Power Co. Big Sandy plant, was of the Christian faith, was an avid fisherman and collector of relics and a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Surviving are his loving wife of 52 years, Rocella J. Hardin of Ashland; three daughters, Christy (Joe) Schwamberger of Wheelersburg, Ohio, Debora (Jim) Reeves of Ashland and Teresa (Joe) Ross of Coal Grove, Ohio; a brother, K.C. Jr. (Pauline) Hardin of South Shore, Ky.; a sister, Joyce (Ernie) Kennard of Tampa, Fla.; six grandchildren, Rebecca, Joe and Dustin Schwamberger, Leesa Reeves, Leena Meade and Samantha Ross; and two great-grandchildren, Sara Kay and James Isaac. He is also survived by a host of loving family and friends.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Stan Williams. Burial will be in Siloam Cemetery Hardin Section in Siloam, Ky.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
