Gypsy Kahne Damron (1911-2006)

Gypsy Kahne Damron, 94, of Westwood, Ky., went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Jan. 29, 2006, at the home of her daughter.

Mrs. Damron was born Sept. 21, 1911, in Cincinnati, and was the daughter of the late John and Laura Miranda Kahne.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Bryant C. Damron, who passed away on Sept. 8, 1996; two daughters, Delores Elizabeth Damron, who passed away in 1933, and Patricia Ann Damron, who passed away in 1939; and a brother, Escoe Kahne.

She was owner and operator of the Original Army and Navy Store in Ashland, Ky., was a member of Rose Hill Baptist Church and was a very loving mother and grandmother.

Surviving are two sons, Richard C. (Carol) Damron and Gerald S. (Susan) Damron, both of Ashland; a daughter, Linda (Tom) Stephens of Russell, Ky.; grandchildren Richard A. Damron, Leslie McSorley, David Damron, Bryan Damron, Ruthey Damron, Lora Rison and Thomas Stephens; 11 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by Dr. Ronnie Mayes and Pastor Tommy Miles. Burial will be in Dixon Cemetery.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Rose Hill Christian School, 1001 Winslow Road, Ashland, KY 41102 or Community Hospice, 1538 Central Ave., Ashland, KY 41101.
