Ola Ellington Williams, 89, formerly of Ashland, died Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006, at her home in Memphis, Tenn. She was born June 20, 1916 in Morgan, County, Ky.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James L. and Nannie Perry Ellington; Clyde Williams, her husband of 51 years; two brothers and three sisters.
She was a 1934 graduate of Ashland Senior High School.
Her career and her life were dedicated to being a good homemaker for her husband and children and later her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ola came to know the Lord many years ago and was - until her move from Ashland - a dedicated and loyal member of Community Presbyterian Church in Bellefonte.
During her extended illness she was lovingly cared for by her children, their spouses and grandchildren. Her children: (all of Memphis) Larry Williams (Ginger), Bill Williams (Ceil), and Clyda Benson.
Also surviving are eight grandchildren: Chris Williams (Michele) of Memphis; Jeff Williams of Nashville, Tenn.; Missy Caldwell (Brett) of Silver Thorne, Colo.; Chip Benson (Reida) of Memphis; Susan Benson of Memphis; Taylor Williams of Shelbyville, Ky.; Allison Treadwell (Hunt) of Birmingham, Ala.; Frannie Williams of Memphis; and two great-grandchildren, Jackson Beck of Memphis and Molly Caldwell of Silver Thorne.
Other survivors include a sister, Maxine Cook of Ashland; a brother, Ed Ellington (Marie) of Ashland; and several nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. She will be missed by many friends, church members and neighbors.
Her memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland and will be conducted by her brother, Ed Ellington, and the Rev. Jack Edwards. Her niece, Nancy Farley, and great-nephew, Mike Broughton, will have a part in the service.
Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday. Entombment will be in Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum.
