Dudley Blevins (1915-2006)

Posted: 02/12/06 - 09:41:41 pm EST

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dudley Crawford Blevins, 90, of Ashland, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2006. He was born Oct. 28,1915, a son of the late James Troy Blevins and Bessie Walker. His wife, Lucille Stevens Blevins, also preceded him in death on Aug. 27,1989.

Dudley was a dedicated Christian. He worshipped with his brothers and sisters in Christ at Rose Hill Baptist Church. He was always giving praise to the Lord for his long life and wonderful family and friends.

Dudley also took pride in his work. He was a loyal employee for Mansbach Metal, where he worked for more than 30 years as a crane operator.

Dudley was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. He had four children, seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild. He will be sadly missed on this Earth, but we have assurance in knowing he is happy now with the Lord.

Surviving include two sons, Dudley Blevins Jr. (Betty) of Fort Worth, Texas, and Jim Blevins of Ashland; two daughters, Bessie Bowling (Max) of Ashland and Ann Gibbs (Elwood) of Greenup; seven grandchildren, Max Dean Bowling (Sandy), Connie Bayes (Joe), Andrea Lynn Richter (Karl), Amy Hyles, Scott Ball (Rose), Mark Ball (Leslie) and Billy Ball; 13 great grandchildren; and a great-great grandchild.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Rose Hill Baptist Church by Dr. Ronnie Mayes and the Rev. Charles E. Stewart. Burial will be in Carter County Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the church.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Rose Hill Christian School.
