Virginia Katherine (Howell) Lee, age 82, of 25th Street, Ashland, Ky., died on Thursday, Feb. 16, 2006, in King's Daughters Medical Center, following a short illness.

She was born on Feb. 15, 1924, in Catlettsburg, Ky., a daughter of David and Elizabeth Childers Howell.

She was a homemaker and mother of twin sons and was a member of First Church of God.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Mason (Red) Lee in 1993.

She is survived by her twin sons, James Donald Lee and his wife, Nadine and Dr. Claude Ronald Lee and his wife, Lucretia; and one granddaughter, Jenna Elizabeth Lee of Longwood, Fla. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and three dear friends, Ruth Mellon, Elsa Abbott and Helen Hall Harmon.

Jennie was a very kind-hearted person. When she was younger, she liked to walk around Central Park, take rides in the car and make candy for the Christmas holidays. She made the very best “fried peach pies”.

To celebrate Jennie's entry into heaven, a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 20, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland. Words of comfort will be offered to those in attendance by Pastor Tom Pelt and Pastor Mabel Johnson of First Church of God.

Visitation will be from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday and one hour before the service Monday, Feb. 20.
