Virginia Bragg Bates (1913-2006)

Virginia Bragg Bates, 92, of Shelbyville, Ky., formerly of Ashland, died Sunday morning, March 19, 2006, in Crestview Nursing Facility in Shelbyville.

Mrs. Bates was born Dec. 5, 1913, in Johnson County, Ky., a daughter of the late Arthur and Maymie Bragg. She was a devoted homemaker and a member of OId Orchard Church of Christ in Ashland.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles Myron Bates, in 1986.

She is survived by her son, Bob Bates, and his wife, Melody, of Shelbyville and a grandson, Evan Bates of Shelbyville.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel with Pastor William Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Friends may make contributions to Old Orchard Church of Christ, 3600 Blackburn Ave., Ashland, KY 41102.
