Dennie Alfred Skaggs (1917-2006)

Dennie Alfred Skaggs, age 88, of Ashland, Ky., died May 2, 2006, in King’s Daughters Medical Center.

He was born July 11, 1917, in Boyd County, Ky., a son of the late Lewis and Luda Fannin Skaggs.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Skaggs was preceded in death by a brother, Elmer Skaggs and a sister, Clarice Bustetter.

He retired from Armco Steel Corp. after 41 years, where he was a foreman in the zinc grip department. He was a member of Beech Street Christian Church, Elks Lodge 350 and Tri-State Model Flyers.

Survivors include his wife, Ella Mae Kazee Skaggs of Ashland; three sons, Dennie Michael and his wife, Evelyn Skaggs, of Hebron, Ky., Joseph S. and his wife, Carla Skaggs, of Russell, Ky., and Steven A. and his wife, Jeanie Skaggs, of Ashland; a daughter, Margaret Richter and her husband, Fred, of Kirksey, Ky.; 10 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 5, 2006, at Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Ken Vaughn. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today, May 4, 2006, at the funeral home.
