Rachel Ellen Meddings Musgrave - 1934-2006
Rachel Ellen Meddings Musgrave, 72, of Ashland, Ky., died Tuesday, June 20, 2006, in Community Hospice Care Center.
She was born Feb. 8, 1934, in Van Lear, Ky., a daughter of the late William Otto and Gladys Stanley Meddings.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a son, William Douglas Leffler; and a brother, James Douglas Meddings.
She was a retired nurse at King’s Daughters Medical Center and also worked at several hospitals in the Big Sandy area, including Louisa, Jenkins and Prestonsburg.
She was a member of Second Baptist Church in Ashland, where she was in the Ruth Sunday School Class and very active in church missions. She was a former secretary/treasurer for Cardinal Broadcasting Co., WREM-Jenkins, founder of the Hospital Home Health Agency with the Jenkins Clinic and developed the WIC program with the Johnson County Health Department.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Charles David and Linda Leffler of Ashland; a brother, William David Meddings of Kevil, Ky.; two grandsons, Michael David Leffler of Lexington, Ky., and Steven Daniel Leffler of Ashland; two nephews, Jeff and Patrick Meddings; and a niece, Shannon Meddings.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 23, 2006, at Second Baptist Church in Ashland by the Rev. Ed Caudill. Burial will be in Davidson Memorial Gardens at Ivel.
Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today, June 22, 2006, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland and an hour before the service at the church.
