Charles W. Kopp, 89, of Ashland, Ky., died July 9, 2006, in King’s Daughters Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 2, 1916, in Ashland, a son of the late Charles Frederick and Lillian Mae Smith Kopp.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Charles Frederick Kopp II and half brothers, Harry Steed, Albert Steed, Jack Steed and Joe Steed.
Mr. Kopp was owner of Kopp Office Supply in Ashland for more than 50 years. He was a World War II Navy veteran, was a member of First Baptist Church of Ashland, VFW and American Legion Post 76, past president of Jaycees, a member and president of the Greenbo Association, United Commercial Travelers and Music, Arts and Culture.
He was a 1936 graduate of Ashland High School and president of the ‘36 Club, taught Men’s Sunday School class at First Baptist Church of Ashland and was a member of Kentucky Highlands Museum.
His survivors include his wife, Helen Rose Fisher Kopp of Ashland; a daughter, Jane Kopp Geis and her husband, Jeffrey of Cincinnati; his daughter-in-law, Debra Kopp of Lexington, Ky.; and two grandchildren, Jennifer Kopp and Brandon Kopp, both of Lexington.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 12, 2006, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Quentin Lockwood. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery with military honors by the American Legion Post No. 93 of Kenova, W.Va.
