David Lee Jackson, 66, of Ashland, Ky., died Monday morning in King’s Daughters Medical Center.
He was born Nov. 22, 1939, in Highsplint, Harlan County, Ky., a son of the late Ancil and Hazel Robinson Jackson.
He was reared there, then moved with his parents to Gary, Ind., where he worked 13 years at Georgia-Pacific Corp.’s paper mill.
After he and his father retired in 1978, the family moved to Speedwell, Tenn. He and his mother moved to Ashland in 1981.
He was a member of United Paperworkers International Union Local 596 in Gary and Belmont Baptist Church in Ashland.
He was a lifelong and committed fan of University of Kentucky basketball and the Cincinnati Reds. He was a fisherman and CB radio buff.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ancil E. Jackson.
Survivors include his sister, Wanda Wolfford and brother-in-law, George Wolfford of Ashland; three nieces; three nephews; seven great-nieces; and two great-nephews.
Funeral services will be at 6 p.m. today at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Curtis McComis.
Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Graveside rites will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Rest Haven Cemetery in Harlan County.
