Homer R. “Weasel” Wilburn - 1947-2006

Homer R. “Weasel” Wilburn, age 59, of Rush, Ky., died Wednesday evening, Oct. 25, 2006, in Community Hospice Care Center.

Mr. Wilburn was born July 25, 1947, in Rush, a son of George W. and Clotine Brainard Wilburn of Rush.

He was preceded in death by a brother, John Paul Wilburn.

He was owner and operator of the Arcade Barber Shop and a member of Pleasant Valley Church in Olive Hill, Ky.

Additional survivors include his wife, Gayle Sue Runyon Diedrich Wilburn of Rush; two sons, Scott L. Wilburn and his wife, Sherry, and David O. Wilburn and his wife, Cheri, all of Rush; a daughter, Lisa Becket and her husband, Craig, of South Point, Ohio; three brothers, Charles Wilburn and his wife, Delores, and James Wilburn and his wife, Bonnie, all of Grayson, Ky., and Greg Wilburn and his wife, Shannon, of Rush; two sisters, Joann Fannin and her husband, Bob, of Rush and Betty Sturgill of Burnaugh, Ky.; and three grandchildren, Abbigaile Wilburn, Evan Duvall and Ethan Wilburn.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by Randy Binion. Burial will be in Cribbs Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Contributions may be made to Community Hospice, 1538 Central Ave., Ashland, KY 41101, the American Cancer Society, 4338 13th St., Ashland, KY 41101 or to a favorite charity.

Homer made getting a haircut a fun experience. I wish I had seen him one last time -- I'll miss him more than I could possibly express in mere words. My sincere condolences to all his family and friends. Homer, you will be missed. Save a place for me, Brother.

I had the privelage of getting to know Homer when my family took over the tobacco shop in the arcade building a couple years back. May the echo of his whistle forever be heard in the building halls. My deepest condolences to his family.
