Georgia E. Francis - 1924-2006
Georgia E. Francis, 82, of Ashland, Ky., died Tuesday morning, Oct. 31, 2006, in Woodland Oaks Health Care Facility.
Mrs. Francis was born Oct. 15, 1924, in Logan, W.Va., a daughter of the late Ira and Lucy Collins Wells.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Francis was also preceded in death by a daughter, Phyllis Copley, in 2002; a brother, Ira Wells Jr.; and sisters Myrtle Howard, Geneva Howard, Erma Howard, Ida Mae Hardy and Evelyn Gallagher.
She retired as a nurse’s aide from King’s Daughters Medical Center and was a member of Pollard Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband of 62 years, Rufus Francis of Ashland; two daughters, Judy Meredith and her husband, Robert, of Catlettsburg, Ky., and Mary Green and her husband, Ron, of Ashland; a son-in-law, Ed Copley of Catlettsburg; two sisters, Belva Sue Huffman of Ashland and Lora Conley of Flatwoods, Ky.; and four grandchildren, Robbie Meredith of Catlettsburg, Eddie Copley and his wife, Joni, of Cannonsburg, Ky., Matthew Green of Ashland and Tamara Bell of Las Vegas.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Tom Swartzwelder and the Rev. Mike Rice. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
