Eloise Salyer Carter - 1925-2006

Eloise Salyer Carter, age 81, of Ashland, Ky., died Friday morning, Nov. 17, 2006, in King’s Daughters Medical Center.

Mrs. Carter was born Feb. 26, 1925, in Ashland, a daughter of the late Harry and Mollie Mobley Greene.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Kenn Salyer; two sisters, Laura Otis and Bernice Carter; and a grandchild, Scott Salyer.

She was retired from the city of Ashland finance department.

Surviving are her husband, Raymond Carter of Ashland; a son, Michael D. Salyer and his wife, Margaret of Richmond, Ky.; two grandchildren, Michael Salyer and Amy McDowell, both of Richmond; and eight great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19, 2006, at the Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Susan Alley. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.

Friends may call at 1 p.m. until service time Sunday at the funeral home.

Friends may make contributions to Normal Presbyterian Church, 4316 Winchester Ave., Ashland, KY 41101.

Dear Family, I am a retiree of the City of Ashland. I was Deputy Cashier and considered Eloise one of my dearest friends. We lived on Forest Avenue and were also neighbors. Jim and I were very fond of Eloise and Ken. Michael, your Mother always spoke highly of you and your family. You are all in our prayers and have our deepest sympathy. God Bless You.
