Betty Dean Bowling - 1925-2006

Betty Dean Bowling, 81, of Lexington, Ky., died Friday, Dec. 15, 2006, in St. Joseph East Hospital in Lexington.

Mrs. Bowling was born Jan. 21, 1925, in Bidewell, Ohio, a daughter of the late Homer and Rachel Topping Mossman. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Ashland and Eastern Star Mistletoe Chapter. She was a Kentucky Colonel and a KDMC volunteer for many years. She was formerly employed by G.C. Murphy Co. and Ashland Oil.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Mossman, and a sister, Irene Brannon.

Mrs. Bowling is survived by her husband of 60 years, Holly Bowling; four daughters, Jennifer Owens of Columbus, Ohio, Sandra Jackson and her husband Herbert of Grove City, Ohio, Melinda Holbrook of Nicholasville, Ky., and Paulanna Mutters and her husband John of Lexington; a brother, Glen Wayne Mossman of Jefferson, Wis.; grandchildren, Wendell Dean Jackson, Herbert Lee Jackson, Christopher Lee Bowling, Rachel Katherine Mutters and Anna Leslie Mutters; great-grandchildren, Devin Marie Jackson, McKenna Leigh Jackson, Maya Hamilton, Jacob Christopher Bowling and Noah Ashton Bowling; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18, 2006, at Marshall Steen Funeral Home in Ashland. Danny Ray Clarkston, nephew, will officiate the service. Entombment will be in Ashland Cemetery Mausoleum.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 tonight, Dec. 17, 2006, at the funeral home.

Friends may make contributions to the charity of their choice.
