Carrie O. Stephens - 1910-2007
Carrie O. Stephens, 96, of Ashland, Ky., died Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 3, 2007, in King’s Daughters Medical Center.
Mrs. Stephens was born May 24, 1910, in Rowan County, Ky., the daughter of the late John P. and Louvenia Prince Sloan.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Russell Stephens; brothers Mack Sloan, Lona Sloan, James Monroe Sloan, Ervin Sloan, Pearl Sloan and Joseph Sloan; sisters Wilma Rose Sloan and Goldie Sloan; and two grandchildren.
She was a licensed practical nurse who formerly worked at the TB Hospital and Elmwood Village. She was a Baptist and a Kentucky colonel.
Surviving are two sons, Harold R. (Sue) Stephens and Raymond G. (Sharon) Stephens, all of Ashland; two daughters, Wanda J. (George) VanHorn of Columbus, Ohio, and Margaret A. (Rex) Walters of Ashland; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum Chapel by the Rev. Charles J. Shields. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.
