Norman Glen Claxon - 1932-2007

Norman Glen Claxon, 74, of Ashland, KY 41101, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2007, at his residence.

Mr. Claxon was born Aug. 27, 1932, in Carter County, Ky., a son of the late Elwood and Catherine Claxon.

He was a member of BPO Elks 350 of Ashland and was a trucker driver for 25 years for Liquid Transporters. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served as a radar technician stationed in Long Island, N.Y.

He is survived by his wife, Cleo Raymond Claxon of Ashland; two sons, Rick Claxon and wife Chrissy of Ashland and Kevin Claxon and wife Davida of West Chester, Ohio; a daughter, Barbie Duren and husband Len of Lexington, Ky.; three brothers, Robert Claxon and wife Jay, Bud Claxon and wife Helen and David Claxon, all of Grayson, Ky.; a sister, Helen Gilbert and husband Floyd of Grayson; five grandchildren, Chris Claxon, Kelli Claxon, Ryan Jones, Kevin Claxon and Tyler Jones; and a great-grandchild, Connor Jones. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 8, 2007, at Steen Funeral Home—Marshall Steen Chapel, 3409 13th St., Ashland, by the Rev. Lee Gussler. Burial will be in Claxon-Smith Cemetery in Carter County.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Jan. 7, 2007, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, friends may make contributions to Community Hospice, 1538 Central Ave., Ashland, KY 41101.
