I just learned of Erwin's passing through some friends at Hobart College. Erwin was a great person. He came to Hobart in 1975 and we played basketball together. Hobart only had 30 or so black males in total so we formed an instant brotherhood. He was a presence on the basketball court and had one of the softest touches I can recall when shooting the ball. More than that he had a great heart. He always seemed to know right from wrong and stayed on the right side of life. I know you all will miss him. GOD decided it was his time to take him. Be thankful for time you were blessed with his presence. My condolences to th entire family.

My husband Fred and I have known Erwin for many years. We both loved him and will miss him very much. When he and I worked together at Ramey-Estep, he was always one to put a laugh in my day (and sometimes those were few and far between). He had great compassion for the young people at the Home. He was a great man. Sincere sympathy, Ruth Leone

I worked with Erwin for almost 15 years at both H-Coal and South Point Ethanol, many years on the same shift. He was a joy to be around and a true testiment to how a person should try and live their live. I do believe he made me laugh more than anyone I've known. My sincere condolences and may God bless. Danyelle,my heart breaks for you in the loss of your father. You and your family will most certainly be in my prayers. May the Lord comfort you in this time of trial. Girl, you've had a tough run already. Hold to His hand, and you can make it again. I'll be right there holding His hand too.
