Donald E. Hayes - 1928-2007
Donald E. Hayes, 78, of Ironton, Ohio, formerly of Kitts Hill, Ohio, and Ashland, Ky., died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2007, in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.
Mr. Hayes was born Nov. 3, 1928, in Ashland, a son of the late Green Ball and Bertha Chandler Hayes.
In addition, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Burgett Hayes; a son, Edd Hayes; a brother, James Hayes; and two sisters, Olive Johnson and Ola Faye Benjamin.
He was a crane operator for Armco Steel Co., a U.S. Navy Korean War veteran, a member of Mamre Baptist Church in Kitts Hill and a 50-year member of Poage Lodge 325 of Ashland.
Surviving are a son, David Hayes of Kitts Hill; and a sister, Wilma Jean Blevins of Paintsville, Ky.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, 2007, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by Pastor Jeff Davenport and the Rev. Gary Dheel. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland with military rites by American Legion Post 93 of Kenova, W.Va.
