Edward Austin Amburgey - 1928-2007
Edward Austin Amburgey, 78, passed away on Feb. 11, 2007, in Ashland, Ky.
Mr. Amburgey was born in Knott County, Ky., on April 3, 1928. He graduated from Hindman High School (Knott Central) in 1947 and attended Alice Lloyd College in Pippa Passes, Ky. Mr. Amburgey moved to Ashland in 1955 and became employed by, and later retired from, Armco (AK) Steel Corp. in the rigger shop. He was a Mason and a member of Rush Lodge 715, F&AM. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
Mr. Amburgey was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Causetta Casebolt Amburgey of Mousie, Ky.; four brothers, Irvin Amburgey of Ada, Ohio, Homer Amburgey of Morehead, Ky., Bill Amburgey of Mousie and James Amburgey of Ashland; and a sister, Nancy Amburgey of Mousie.
Surviving family members include his son, Paul Amburgey, his wife Lee, and their daughter, Rachel, of Ashland; a daughter, Gayla Harvey and her sons, Cody and Austin Harvey, of Fort Mitchell, Ky.; a daughter, Lea Amburgey of Hebron, Ky.; a brother, Shelly Amburgey of Mousie; a brother, Clyde Orville Amburgey of Lima, Ohio; a brother, Lawrence Amburgey of Newport News, Va.; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2007, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2007, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens in South Point, Ohio, following the funeral service.
