William E. “Bill” Logan (1932-2007)

William E. “Bill” Logan, 75, left this world Friday, Feb. 23, 2007, in the Hospice Care Center to enter into his Heavenly Home.

The Boyd County, Ky., restident was born Feb. 12, 1932, in Minnie, Ky., in Floyd County. He was the son of Geneva Turner Houston of Trenton, Ohio, and the late C.E. Logan.

Mr. Logan was reared in the home of his grandparents, the late Ernest and Grace Logan. He was married to the late Peggy Owings Logan, formerly of Somerset, Ky. He also was a graduate of Ashland Senior High School, attended Ashland Community College and was a member of the Kentucky National Guards 202nd Band. During the Korean Conflict, he served in the U.S. Air Force 118th Tactical Recon Wing.

Mr. Logan was a faithful member of Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church and a retiree of Don Hall Chevrolet with more than 40 years of service.

He is survived by his two children, Rebecca Ann Logan of Morgantown, W.Va., and William E. “Buddy” Logan of Marietta, Ga. Other survivors, in addition to his mother, are four sisters, Carolyn Martin, Sue Ann Houston and Dora J. Birch, all of Middletown, Ohio, and Sue Logan Doan of Cincinnati, Ohio; two brothers, John M. Houston of Middletown and C. Larry Logan of Lexington, Ky.; and a special friend and prayer partner, Louise Lavender of Ironton, Ohio.

Funeral services will be at 8 p.m. Monday at Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel in Ashland with Dr. Ronnie Mayes officiating.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, with the service to immediately follow.

Burial will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2007, at the Somerset Cemetery with military graveside rites by the American Legion Honor Guard Post No. 38 of Pulaski County, Ky.

Friends may make contributions to Community Hospice, 1538 Central Ave., Ashland, KY 41101.
