Billie Dean Vanderpool - 1926-2007

Billie Dean Vanderpool, age 80, of Catlettsburg, Ky., died Tuesday, March 27, 2007, in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, Ky.

Mrs. Vanderpool was born Oct. 1, 1926, in Floyd County, Ky., a daughter of the late John D. and Egie O. James Nunnery.

In addition, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Brad David Rose, and a nephew, Keith Justice.

She was a schoolteacher in Floyd County and at the Ashland Area Vocational School. She was a 67-year member of Chadwicks Creek Baptist Church and a member of the Cynthia’s Ladies Class. She attended Morehead State University.

Surviving are her loving husband of 61 years, Harry C. Vanderpool of Catlettsburg; a son, Larry Vanderpool and his wife, Mary, of Manolta, Texas; two daughters, Sandra Dean Rose and her husband, Steve, of Catlettsburg and Detria Gayle Sullivan and her husband, Jim, of Ashland, Ky.; two sisters, Jo Ann Kerns (Gaileon “Coke”) of Catlettsburg and Barbara Jean Carter (Virgil) of Owingsville, Ky.; grandchildren Kathy Amos, Laura Vanderpool, Melissa Rose and Justin Adams; and six great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 31, 2007, at Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Ron Riley, the Rev. Sean Mayenschein and the Rev. Bill McCoy. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

We were so saddened to learn of Billie's passing but know she is with the rest of our family in heaven free of illnesses. All my love and prayers to my Kentucky family.
