Evelyn Grey Hall - 1922-2007
Evelyn Grey Hall, 84, of Ashland, departed this life to be with the Lord in King’s Daughters Medical Center on Thursday, April 26, 2007.
Evelyn Grey was born June 5, 1922, in Kenova, W.Va., the daughter of the late Homer Bryan Porter and Marian Saunders Porter. She was a June 1940 graduate of Ceredo-Kenova High School, where she was a cheerleader and a member of the Thespian Club.
In September 1941, she married the late Jerome C. Kelly, whose family owned and operated Moriarty Furniture Store for many years. During World War II, Evelyn was employed at Armco Steel Corp. and later at Clayton-Lambert Shell Plant. During that period, she was a volunteer at King’s Daughters Medical Center.
Later Evelyn became interested in politics and was elected president of the Ashland Democratic Women’s Club. She was a member of the Tri-State Road Runners Travel Club, the Continental Dance Club and First Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her husband, Howard F. Hall; a daughter, Carroll Kelly Morrison and her husband, C. David Morrison, of Clarksburg, W.Va; and three grandchildren, Elizabeth Grey Morrison, Kelly Brynn Morrison and Charles Franklin Morrison, all of Clarksburg.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, April 30, 2007, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by Dr. Richard Smith. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
