Virgil Kersey (1917-2007)
Virgil Kersey, 89, of Ashland, Ky., a well-known businessman, died June 3, 2007, in King’s Daughters Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 23, 1917, in Ashland, a son of the late Homer and Martha Thomas Kersey.
In addition, he was preceded in death by brothers Bill, Paul, Homer Jr. and Elmer Kersey; and sisters Isabell Broughton, Nora Patton, Mabel Rankin, Louise Walton and Ethel Williams.
He was founder and operator of City Auto Trim for 55 years. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and a member of the Sea Bees. He attended Fairview Baptist Church and was a member of American Legion Post 76.
Surviving are his loving wife of 60 years, Jacqueline White Kersey of Ashland; two sons, Allen Kersey and wife Carolyn and Victor Kersey and wife, Jamie, all of Ashland; daughter Wanda Kersey of Huber Heights, Ohio; grandchildren Meredith Kersey, Justin Kersey and Christina Meade, all of Ashland, Raymond Kersey and wife Martha of Lawrenceburg, Ind., and Victor Kersey of Georgia; a great-grandchild, McKenzie Kersey; a special nephew, Billy Ray Kersey of Ashland; and several other nieces and nephews out of town.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 7, 2007, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Mike Rice and Dr. Charles Stewart. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery.
