Leonard Arliss ThomasLeonard Arliss Thomas - 1934-2007

Leonard Arliss Thomas, 72, of Ashland, Ky., died Thursday morning, July 26, 2007, at his residence.

He was born Sept. 24, 1934, in Ashland, a son of the late George and Ruth Nelson Thomas.

In addition, he was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

He was a retired Armco Steel employee and a member of Christ Temple Church in Ashland.

Surviving are his loving wife of 54 years, Arbadella Higgins Thomas of Ashland; a daughter, Lenora Thomas of Ashland; a brother, Suffragan Bishop Elzy Thomas of Ashland; and a host of family and friends.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2007, at Ashland Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel by Suffragan Bishop Elzy Thomas. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery.

There will be no visitation.

Services are under the direction of Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Christ Temple Church, 2601 Lexington Ave., Ashland, KY 41101.

My every memory of Uncle Leonard is pleasant--can't remember ever seeing him without a big smile on his face! We miss him on earth, as he's being welcomed to heaven.

I am so sorry to hear of Leonard's passing. I carry a lot of fond memories from umpiring with Leonard in Mary Ann's tournament. Arby the girls from Lexington will keep you and Lenora in our thoughts and prayers. Arby we have always thought of you and Leonard as a part of our extended family.
