Donald Ray Kirk, 70, of Atlanta, passed away July 19, 2007.
Mr. Kirk retired from APAC Inc. after 25 years, having served as corporate treasurer and head of administrative services. He was a 1955 graduate of Ashland High School, where he served as battalion commander in the Army ROTC. He received a full scholarship to Centre College in Danville, where he graduated summa cum laude in 1960 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and a Shriner in the Yaarab Temple in Atlanta. He was a kind, gentle, loving and generous man who was respected and admired by all who knew him.
Mr. Kirk was treasurer of his investment club and loved teaching bridge to many. He was born in Naples, Ky., July 10, 1937, the son of the late Charles and Dollie Berry Kirk. He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Belva Kirk, Lucille Griffith and Wilma-Jean Kirk; and two brothers, James and Charles Kirk Jr.
Survivors are his loving wife of 24 years, Anne Littig Kirk; and a beloved extended family — a sister, Violet Riffe of Ashland; a son, Mike Kirk of Trenton, Fla.; three daughters, Suzanne Kingsley and husband, Scott, Karen Ward and husband Thomas and Cheryl Kirk of Winter Haven, Fla.; stepson, Don and wife Michelle Williams of Sorrento, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Elizabeth and husband Ted Smith; 13 grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins and a great-aunt.
A memorial service celebrating the life of Mr. Kirk was at 2:30 p.m. Monday, July 23, 2007, at Bill Head Funeral Home in Tucker, Ga.
A memorial service will be conducted Tuesday, July 31, 2007, at 1 p.m. at Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel with the Rev. Mike Greene officiating. Family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
