Earl  JonesEarl Jones - 1919-2007

Earl Jones, 87, of Cannonsburg went to be with the Lord on Friday, Aug. 3, 2007, at Kingsbrook LifeCare Center. Earl was born Dec. 24, 1919, at Rush, a son of the late Elmer and Maggie Jones. Earl was retired from Armco Steel and was a partner with his son Roger in Jones Builders from which he retired in 1984. He was a World War II Veteran where he served in Germany under General George Patton. He was a charter member of the Boyd County Loins Club. He was a member of Rose Hill Baptist Church and Rev. Charles Stewart’s Sunday School Class.

He was preceded in death along with his parents by a son Roger Jones in 1993, 4 brothers, Frank, Roy, Carl and Clyde Jones and 4 sisters, Clarice Griffith, Minnie Waggoner, Francis Wolfe and Mary Wolfe. Earl was married to Anna Mary McGlone for 67 years and they had 2 children, David E. Jones and his wife Jeanie of Cannonsburg, Roger H. Jones (deceased and his Betty of Ashland. They have 3 grandchildren, Gina Caines of Cannonsburg and David B. Jones and Holly David of Lexington. They also have 6 great grandchildren. Earl is survived by his twin sister Pearl Wurts of Ashland.

They were the second oldest twins in the Commonwealth. He is survived by one other sister Launa Church of Indiana. He is survived by a special caregiver, Judy Stewart.

Funeral Services will be at 1 p.m. on Monday Aug. 6, 2007 with visitation from 11 until service time at Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel on 13th Street. Dr. Ronnie Mayes and Dr. Charres Stewart will officiate. Burial will be made in Rose Hill Burial Park with Military rites by American Legion Kenova post 93.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rose Hill Baptist Church Building Fund or Rose Hill Christian School, 1001 Winslow Road, Ashland, 41102.

Anna Mary, David & family, I was so saddened to hear of Earls passing. He was such a wonderful man. Sorry I could not be there with you all today, but do know that I am thinking of you all during this time of loss
