Wallace Floyd McClain, 99, of Grayson, Ky., formerly of Ashland, Ky., went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Aug. 5, 2007, at the home of his special nephew, Gary McClain and his wife, Tena, where he and his late wife made their earthly home.

Mr. McClain was born Feb. 12, 1908, in Lenox, Ky., a son of the late Frank and Elizabeth Williams McClain.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Susan McClain; and four brothers, Fred McClain, Willie McClain, Ivan McClain and Walter McClain.

He was retired with more than 44 years of service as the East Processing maintenance leader at Armco Steel. He was a member of Poage Lodge 325 of Ashland, the Scottish Rite and Russell Christian Church.

He made his home with his nephew and niece, Gary and Tena McClain, his primary caregivers. Along with three special caregivers, Pauletta Campbell, Eva Sexton and Myrtle Lemaster, he was survived by several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2007, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by Mark McKinney, minister. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Poage Lodge 325 will conduct a Masonic service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Wallace and Susan were two of the finest people I ever met. It was my very good fortune to have known them during their years of good health in the late 1970s.
