Grace Violet Kouns - 1907-2007
Grace Violet Kouns, 100, of Ashland, Ky., died Monday, Aug. 20, 2007, in Kingsbrook Life Care Center surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Kouns was born Jan. 12, 1907 in Hueysville, Ky., a daughter of the late David Banner and Hattie Allen Martin.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Walter Kouns, in 1984; a brother, William Martin; and a sister, Ida Marie Bowman.
She was a wonderful homemaker and a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family was the focus of her life. She attended First United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a son, David G. Kouns and his wife, Deborah, of Cincinnati; a daughter, Wanda L. Kouns and her husband, Ivan, of Ashland; grandchildren Stephanie, John, Rachael, Rick, Kim and Heather; and great-grandchildren Sophia, Rosiland, Ruth, Micah, Madison, Conner, Brendon, Tyler, Chelsea, Jessica, Austin and Logan.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, 2007, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Sharon McDonald. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery.
