Elster  JusticeElster Justice (1922-2007)

Elster Justice, 85, of Ashland, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007, in King’s Daughters Medical Center.

The Fish Trap native was born Aug. 31, 1922, the son of the late Kenus and Myrtle Thacker Justice.

His loving wife of 61 years, Ann Fitch Justice, survives.

The World War II veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps was retired from Ashland Oil in 1987 and was a member of American Legion Post 76 and Catlettsburg Masonic Lodge 235. He enjoyed gardening and was an avid UK fan.

He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Vera Neary and Gladys Smythe.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Effie Justice of South Point; a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Don May of Ashland; five grandchildren, Kevin May, Todd May, Kyle Eric May, Melinda Dawn Ward and Donald E. Justice Jr.; and nine great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel in Ashland by Brother Willie May. Entombment will be in Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum, with military rites by American Legion Post 93 of Kenova.

Visitation will be after 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, Kentucky Region, 240 Whittington Pkwy., Louisville, KY 40222.
