Maxine Howard - 1927-2007

Cloma “Maxine” Howard, 80, of Ashland died Friday at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, W.Va. The Willard native was born Sept. 2, 1927, the daughter of the late George Slone and Ollie Oney Slone McDavid. Her loving husband of 58 years, Charles Edward Howard, survives.

She was a member of the Thirty-ninth Street Baptist Church of Ashland. She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She had formerly worked at Owens Illinois Ship Yards and Standard Overall Dry Cleaners.

She is preceeded in death by one brother Jay McDavid and one sister Lillian Porter.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include one son and daughter-in-law, Charles E. and Debbie Howard Jr. of Pedro; three daughters and son-in-law, Donna and Randall Robinson of Lexington and Regina Twinam and Todd Miller and Charlene and Michael Morgan, both of Ashland; one brother, Jack McDavid of Grayson; two sisters, Ethel “Pee Gee” Everman and Janet Meenachs, both of Grayson; grandchildren, Kyle and Kent Robinson, Brittany Twinam, Johnny Hurley, Josie Ghomas and Jared and Haley Howard; special cousin, JoAnn Osborne of Ashland; and special friend, Irene Walters of Ashland.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Steen Funeral Home, Marshall Steen Chapel. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.

Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Buck & family, We were so sorry to hear of Maxine's passing. We weren't able to attend the funeral due to sickness in the family but all of you have been in our thoughts and prayers. We will always cherish the memories of all the times we spent together when the children were young. Maxine will always have a special place in our hearts.
