
Phillip Nichols - 1950-2007
Phillip Leroy Nichols, 57, of Ashland died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. The Boyd County native was born Feb. 10, 1950, the son of the late Okey and Mayme Mullins Nichols.
He was of the Baptist faith and a member and conductor with the Ashland Eagles Arie 2329 and served as an inside guard with the Eagles State Association, AmVets Post 95 of Greenup; the American Legion Post 325 of Flatwoods, was an instructor with the Tri-State Cloggers of South Point; and also a member of the Yellowrockers Square Dancers of Huntington. He was a janitor at the Ashland Eagles.
He also was preceded in death by two brothers, James Okey Nichols and Paul Edward Nichols.
Survivors include four brothers, William R. Nichols of Ironton, Keith Randall Nichols and Karl Clayton Nichols, both of Ashland and Ronald Allen Nichols of Barboursville; five sisters, Phyllis Ann Maynard of Catlettsburg, Patricia Lee McDonald and Linda Carol Christian, both of Ashland, Karen Yvonne Tarring of Louisa and Debra Haines of Flatwoods; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday at Steen Funeral Home, Central Avenue Chapel, with the Rev. Robert Chaffins officiating. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
