Samuel E. Newman (1919-2007)
Samuel E. Newman, 88, of Ashland, died Sunday in Boyd County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Newman was born May 21, 1919, the son of the late John Burney and Lizza Fannan Newman. He was the widower of Mildred Maxine Stephens Newman.
Mr. Newman was a member and a past Deacon of the Westwood Enterprise Baptist Church, a member of the bee's association of Kentucky, and the United Steelworkers. He proudly served his country in WW II with the United States Army, and retired as a Roller from Armco Steel Company.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Samuel E. and Darlene Newman, Jr. of Ashland, two grandchildren Jo Etta Newman of North Carolina and Phillip Newman of Westwood, 1 great-grandson Phillip Bradley Newman.
Burial will be in the Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland, Wednesday, December 26, 2007.
Private family graveside services are planned. There is no visitation.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to a favorite charity or church.
