1934 - 2008

Rickie Lillian Phaff (1934-2008)

Rickie Phaff of Ashland, Ky., passed away on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2008, at her home.

Born in Philadelphia on June 10, 1934, she was the daughter of Charles and Jennie (Millman) Gelover and raised in the Jewish faith. A dedicated homemaker, mother and grandmother, she lived most of her adult life in Kentucky.

Rickie lived an independent life and was a friend to all and a stranger to none. She never drove but knew every bus driver by name. Her joys in life were reading, cooking, baking, sewing, animals and sharing them all with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, Jerry Phaff, and his wife, Mona, and granddaughter Emilie Elizabeth and grandson Andrew Joseph, all of Winchester, Mass.; her daughter, Susan Boyer, and her husband, Dan, grandson Joel Charles, granddaughter Jenny Rose and grandson Andrew Samuel, all of Ashland; and her brother, Jerry Gelover, and his wife, Judie, and nieces Cheryl, Karen and Heidi.

She leaves behind many friends as well, including Mary Smith of Ashland and her beloved cat, Tommy.

A memorial for the family was at the home of her daughter on Sunday, Feb. 3

Steen Funeral Home in Ashland was in charge of arrangements.

Susan, Jerry and families - I was shocked to learn of your mother's death and know that it was quite a shock for you also. My prayers are with you and your families that God will provide comfort and peace during this difficult time. It has been a long time since I saw either one of you but I remember with fondness some of our childhood memories and growing up together. God bless you. Debbie (Davis) Musser If I could get information on Jerry as far as email or home address we are planning a high school reunion 8/29 and 8/30.
