Ernest E. Young - 1923-2008

Ernest E. Young, 84, of Satsuma, Fla., died suddenly on Monday, March 3, 2008.

He was a native of Ashland, Ky., and resided in Putnam County since 1985. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and worked for 36 years as an electrical maintenance foreman with Armco Steel Corp. He was a member of First Baptist Church of San Mateo and a 32nd degree Mason. He enjoyed fishing and square dancing and was involved in several square dancing clubs.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Mary O. Young.

He is survived by his wife of two years, Therese V. Young of San Mateo; three sons, Ronald (Linda) Young of Raceland, Ky., Larry (Glenda) Young of San Mateo and Danny (Linda) Young of Lawrenceburg, Ky.; a stepson, Roger Belgau of Palatka; a brother, Melvin Young of Baton Rouge, La.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one stepgrandson.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 10, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland officiated by the Rev. J. Stewart Schneider. Burial will follow in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m.

I am so sorry for your loss. Ernie was a wonderful person and I know he will be sadly missed. I am sorry I didn't get to make it to visitation, I would have loved to have seen everyone.

We don't expect you to remember us but we used to square dance with Ernie & Mary years ago with the Arky Stars. They were both very sweet people.We will be praying for you during your time of sadness.
