It was with sadness I learned about Jeff's illness when I came to Ashland for my Aunt's funeral back in April. Now I see that he has passed away, and I want to offer my sincere condolences to Jeff's family. I attended the same schools as Jeff until I moved away in the 10th grade. I remember him as a classmate and a friend that I won't soon forget.

Hello Helen, My sister sent me an e-mail about Jeff's death. I just wanted you to know how sorry I am for you loss. Dealing with your own pain and trying to help Tyler at the same time has to be so difficult. You both are in my thoughts and prayers. Hope to see you next time I'm home. Love Tootie

My deepest sympathy goes out to Helen and Tyler. Jeff always had an encouraging nature and concernment for the betterment of our community. He will be sadly missed by many! May of us at Cannonsburg elementary have reflected on Jeff's dedication to the kids as a sub. One of my co-workers stated that when in high school "we couldn't wait for a Cooksey day". May God bless and keep you during this hard time! Patty Osborne

Tyler, I just met you on Sunday in the Bible Class I was teaching, but was impressed immediately with your saying "yes, sir" & "no,sir". You have obviously had good training and examples. Am sure a lot of that probably came from your father. So sorry that he has passed to the next life. Have prayed for you and your mother and will continue to do so. Hope to see you again at church. In Sympathy, Mark Parks Flatwoods Church of Christ

I am very sorry to learn of your loved ones passing. Gods word the Bible describes death as a common enemy of all. 1 Corinthians 15:25, 26 Thankfully, we have hope, just as Job asked, If a man dies, can he live again? Job 14:14 And Jesus Christ answered by explaining the resurrection John 5: 25-28 May you find comfort during this time of grief from the Holy Scriptures. - 2 Corinthians 1:3-5

I first knew Jeff while playing basketball in Olive Hill. Later I worked with Jeff at First National Bank in Grayson. My wife worked with him some at East Carter HS. I am so glad I read the article last Sunday. I am fortunate that I once knew Jeff. Sorry for the grief the family has had to deal with. Please pass this short note to his family. Thank you.

Dear Helen and Tyler, We were so sorry to hear about your great loss. Please know that we are praying for you and Tyler. The 11th grade student love Tyler and are all praying for him. I know that that God will wrap you in His arms and get your through this difficult time. If you need us please call. Tyler, I can still remember your dad coming during your recess time in kindergarten just to stand outside the window to watch you play. He love you so much and was so proud of you. I still tell people about him watching you and about how I had never seen a dad do that. May God Richly bless you! Teresa

To the family of Jeff Cooksey, our deepest sympathy is extended to you. I, Paul DeHart, was a fellow graduate of Jeff's in the 1970 class of Paul G. Blazer H.S. in Ashland, Ky. Other coincidences that we shared we were both born on April 30, 1952 in Ashland, Ky, and shared classes together while attending Hager Elementary school, Putnam Jr H.S, and Paul Blazer H.S. Jeff's Mother (Mary) and my Mother (Betty) worked together years ago at the C&O Railroad. Our thoughts and prayers will be with you. Sincerely Paul and Janice DeHart, Westerville, Ohio.
