June Marie SargentJune Sargent - 1917-2008

June Marie Sargent, 90, passed away Friday evening, May 2, 2008, surrounded by her loving family in Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. She was born June 11, 1917, in Carter County, the daughter of the late William and Pheobe Ross Shaffer. She was the wife of the late Paul E. Sargent.

She was a member of Rose Hill Baptist Church and was a homemaker.

She also was preceded in death by one son, Ernest Ray Sargent; two brothers, Mose Shaffer and Lawrence Shaffer; and three sisters, Cora Wurts, Ann Mullins and Lydia Fankell.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Don Sargent and wife, Lorraine of Ashland; three daughters and sons-in-law, Freda Schneider and husband, Ronald, of Ashland, Barbara Smith and husband, James Bo, of Russell, and Sharon Diamond and husband, Gregory, of Ashland; grandchildren, Donnie Sargent Jr., Jeffrey Sargent, Rick Schneider, Scott Henry, Michelle Fugitt, Melissa Mavis, Heather Miller, Kristen Arnett, of Frankfort, Susan McKenzie of Chesapeake, Ohio, Eric Schneider of Columbus, Ohio, Jeremy Diamond and Kasi Diamond; great-grandchildren, Brad, Brooke, Brennan, Amanda, Caleb, Jerry, Alexandra, Hannah, Sarah S., Rachel, Raegan, Cameron, Savannah, Sarah A., Kari Beth, Caroline, Parker, Trey and Josiah; and one great-great-grandchild, Alexander.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Steen Funeral Home Marshall Steen Chapel, with Dr. Ronnie Mayes and the Rev. Charles Stewart officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Grandsons will be the pallbearers.

Friends may make contributions to Rose Hill Baptist Church Building Fund, 1001 Winslow Road, Ashland, Ky. 41102.

Sharon and family, I am sorry to hear of your mother's passing. Both Trish and Margie had shared with me how she was doing. I have fond memories of overnight visits and sharing with her. I always said a "Hello" from the car when we passed her house on the way in to Ashland. Cathy
