Dear Betty, and Gene's sisters Virginia and Barbara. As a former neighbor (1939-1944)and boyhood friend of Gene and the Irwin family, I was sorry to learn of Gene's death through my sister Dorothy Reinartz Barth. Gene was a Senior and we were in the same ROTC unit when I was a freshman at ASH, after which we moved to Ohio in '49. My sympathy to you and all the family.

I was saddened to read online of your loss of Gene. However, it made me think of many happy times on Hilton & I was so pleased to keep in touch with Irwins for many years after we left Ashland. With sympathy & love, Dorothy

MY and my 10 sibling's condolences to my Great Uncle Gene Irwin family and friends. I know he will be missed graetly.
My grandfather was Ernest E. Irwin, my father Everett C. Irwin who had 11 children just to let you know where I fit in to the family line.
I was never fortunate enough to meet Uncle Gene, but know he was a wonderful person. I received this notice from a family friend who lives in Rush today so it will not be possible for me to make the service. But know I am there in spirit with each and everone of you.
Sincerely Earnestine Irwin Barton

Dear Betty and Chris, We wanted to send our sympathy. Gene was a wonderful man. It ment so much to us when he visited Larry. He was so faithful even though we knew he didn't feel good. He would always have a smile and encouraging words for us. Sometimes it helps me to envision Larry busy up there in Heaven and now I will see Gene there with him taking care of business. I will be praying for you as you travel this unwanted, difficult journey called grieving. With Sincere Sympathy, Cathy, Matt and Ashley See

Gene was a great man and a good friend. It was always a pleasure to see him and to chat with him. My association with Gene stems from my connection with his sister-in-law Thora Louise who was my Jr. High Band Director. May God bless the family during this time of sorrow.

My condolences to Betty, Chris and all of the family. I remember my working ambulance and funerals with Gene 42 Years ago. Gene never changed, he was the same person every time we meet and talked, no mater how long between meetings. Gene was one of my mentors. I know Gene will be missed by all who meet him.

As owner of Greenlawn Cemetery in Louisa, I had talked to Gene a few times when he came to accompany an interment to Greenlawn. I always enjoyed my conversations with him. He was a very nice man. I'm sure he will be greatly missed.
