James L. Thompson - 1946-2008
James L. Thompson, age 61, of Russell, Ky., died Monday, July 14, 2008 in Kings Daughters Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 7, 1946, in Ironton, Ohio, a son of the late Fitch and Dixie Riffe Thompson.
He was an employee of AK Steel and a Vietnam Army veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Judy Maggard Thompson of Russell; two sons, Adam Thompson of Russell, Ky., and Jimmy Thompson of Mansfield, Ohio; two brothers, Woody Thompson of Huntington, W.Va., and Ted Vanhorn of Ironton; two sisters, Pam Thompson and Ruth Rosebrough, both of Ironton; and two grandsons.
The funeral will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 17, 2008 at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland. A private committal service will be Friday at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call from 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
