Clarence Dale Manning, 70, of Catlettsburg, died Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008, in Community Hospice Care center in Ashland following an extending illness.

Mr. Manning was born Nov. 13, 1937, in Morgan County, a son of the late James H. and Thelma Taulbee Manning.

He also was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Gibbs Manning, and a brother, Jerry C. Manning.

He was a retired carpenter and a member of Local Carpenters Union 472. He served in the National Guard for several years.

He is survived by two sons, James K. Manning and his wife, Janet, of Ashland, and Chris Manning and his wife, Paula, of Catlettsburg;A daughter, Lisa Manning and her fiance, Herbert Travis of Catlettsburg, Ky. two brothers, Clinton Manning and his wife, Marcella, and Terry L. Manning of Carter County; two sisters, June Weasenforth and her husband, William, and Linda Rucker and her husband, Donald, all of Ashland; grandchildren James. K. Manning, Shelly Messer and husband James, Shauna Bragg and husband Steven, Michael Tice, Meagan Tice, Sarah McCoy, Breanna Armes and Ashley Armes; and great-grandchildren Elijah Scott Messer, Steven Tyler Bragg and Draven Major.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2008, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel by Brother Paul Stepp. Burial will be in Dixon Cemetery in Westwood.

Friends may call after 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Contributions may be made to Community Hospice, 1538 Central Ave., Ashland, KY 41101.
