Lula J. Kouns (1933-2008)
Lula J. Kouns, 75, of Ashland died Friday, Aug. 15, 2008, at Kings Daughters Medical center in Ashland. She was born May 14, 1933, in Logan, W.Va., the daughter of the late Charles C. and Martha Ferrell White. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, James Harold Kouns, who passed away on Sept. 27, 2007.
She was a member of Meade Station Church of God and was a devoted homemaker.
She also was preceded in death by a sister, Delores Scott.
Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Anthony Dewayne Kouns and wife, Linda, of San Antonio, Texas, Terry James Kouns and wife, Debra, of Greenup, Gene Kevin Kouns and wife, Carla, of Boyd County and Phillip Dean Kouns and wife, Brenda, of Ashland; three brothers, Russell William White, Charles Ray White and Ernest White; and three sisters, Anna Gay Koutsunis, Judy Thorn and Joyce Ball; 12 grandchildren, Teresa, James Anthony, Christina Marie, Tracy James, April, Brian, William Robert II, Alicia Brianne, Victoria Jean, James William, Justin Phillip and Kolin Glen; and seven great-grandchildren, Cristin, Christopher, Lon, Lonnie, Jordan, Emily and Jayden.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Steen Funeral Home, Marshall Steen Chapel, with Pastor Rob Jordan officiating. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
