1941 - 2008

Linda Price StewartLinda Price Stewart (1941-2008)

Linda Price Stewart, born Sept. 11, 1941, went to be with the Lord Jesus and be reunited with her loving husband of 46 years, Fred Stewart Jr., on Aug. 25, 2008, surrounded by her loving family.

Linda was born in Ironton, Ohio, to the late Pearl Hanners Nichols and the late Gordon Price. In addition to her husband and parents, Linda was preceded in death by an infant baby brother; two brothers-in-law, Roy Stewart and Charles Ray; and a nephew, Daryle E. Patrick.

Linda graduated with the Class of 1959 from Dawson-Bryant High School in Coal Grove, Ohio, where she was a member of the band, Glee Club and Triple Trio.

She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, where she served the Lord by dedicating her time to the pastor parish relations and nominating committees and administrative board and the church choir. She was a member of Eastern Star and Blue Ribbons bowling league and was a granny to many Ashland Tomcats, whom she deeply loved.

Survivors include her special daughter, Leslie Stewart McDowell and her husband, Randall; the joy of her life, her grandson, Scott Stewart McDowell, and his wife; and her granddaughter, Laney, all of Ashland; a sister, Barbara Ann Dyer and her husband, Henry; five sisters-in-law, Audrey Ray of Ashland, Ida Sis Patrick (Dick), Peggy Heaberlin (Bill), Betty Scott and Elenor Stewart; and her lifelong best friend, Donna Stevens.

Linda leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends whose lives will forever be touched by knowing the kindness and generosity of Linda Stewart. She will be sadly missed.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by Pastor David Gross and Pastor William Moore.

Pallbearers will be Scott Stewart McDowell, Randy McDowell, Joe Duvall, John Dyer, Jerry Dyer and Steve Price. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Patrick, Johnny Dyer, Steven Dyer and Christopher Duvall.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, friends may make contributions to National City Bank, c/o Scott Stewart McDowell-Tomcat Baseball Fund in Lindas memory.

The family wishes to acknowledge deep appreciation to Aunt Audie for the love she has given to Mom/Granny over the years, but especially during this most trying time.

We are so sorry to hear of your loss. She was a beautiful and wonderful woman that will deeply be missed. Her vivacious personality has truly left a mark on everyone who knew her. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers always. Please tell Scott we are thinking of him. Mom found out yesterday and called today to tell us. (She was in AZ when it happened, so that is why she wasn't at the visitation.) We wish we could have been there, but we will definitely send a contribution in her memory. - The Webb Family

Leslie, and Scott we are so sad to hear of your loss. What a great friend, and how much fun we all had with baseball trips. I can see her now getting ready to go to Florida with her girlfriend like she did every year. And Scott she always had your nail clippers for you when you pitched. A true "Lady" she was, and will be missed of all of us.

Dear Leslie and Family: I am so sorry for your loss. I was out of town when this occurred and couldn't be there. I am sorry for that too. Your Mom was a great person. She always had a smile all she greeted. She was so great with Tara when she was small and I will never forget that. I send my love and my prayers. May the light of all that is peace surround you and keep you until we meet again..... Rhonda

Leslie and Scott, Just wanted you to know how much I loved your Mom and your Dad. I know the sadness that you are feeling now. Take comfort in knowing she is with her true love in Heaven and I can just see the smile on Fred's face when he got to see her again. It was and honor to me to get to know and take care of them both. They were the best. Know that I am thinking about you all and if you ever need anything just call. You will always be in my prayers. Kim Nethercutt RN Charge Oncology Specialty Unit @ KDMC

Our prayers go out to your family during this difficult time. Fred and I worked together for over 20 years at Calgon Carbon and I have great memories of he and Linda. Both were very kind and helpful folks. I know how much the "Tomcats" meant to both and that was hard on me being an old Catlettsburg "Wildcat". Knowing that they both professesed trust in Jesus for the forgiveness of sin, we have not lost them, because we know where they are, HEAVEN. I encourage you all to look to God for peace and remember all the good times. I know I will.

Leslie and family, I was so sad to hear of Linda's death. We (all those involved in Tomcats Sports) will greatly miss Linda. She was an avid fan and a joy to hang out with at both the football and the baseball games. She enoyed all the ball games and the kids. Linda was a very proud grandmother. I will especially miss her stories of when Scott played ball and of her life with Fred before he died. We've shared a lot in the few short years I've known her. I think it fitting that you have requested donations be made to the baseball team. It is a wonderful way to honor her memory. May God Bless You. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Leslie, Scott and family; I am sorry to hear of Lindas' passing. She was a dear sweet lady who was a joy to be around. Though I only had the pleasure of knowing her a short time, it was evident what a wonderful, kind and loving person she was and how much she loved all of you. You will remain in my prayers. God Bless You

Leslie, So sorry to hear this news. Of course, our thoughts and prayers will be with you. Try to keep your focus on all of the great times you all had together. It is really hard to do I know, because all you can do at first is grieve and think of missed opportunities to do more. As time is passing for me since Mom's death, I am trying to make myself focus on the positives. Sorry that I won't be able to be there, but I will send a contribution in her memory, Lisa Sexton Curtis and family
