Marjorie Jean Worland FrancisMarjorie Jean Worland Francis (1919-2008)

Marjorie Jean Worland Francis, widow of Hobert J. Francis, passed away Oct. 14, 2008, in Ashland.

Born in Mount Vernon, Ind., in 1919, she was the daughter of Thomas Corwin Worland and Mildred Lillian Wiley.

She was preceded in death by her only brother, Charles Corwin Worland. Mrs. Francis came to Ashland in 1940 with her husband to help establish his business. She had been a member of South Ashland United Methodist Church since the early 1940s, was actively involved and served as communion steward for many years.

All who love and cherish her recognized her greatest talent was that of being mother. She brought joy to everyone and everyone loved her. She was kind, caring, gentle, fun-loving, always smiling and beautiful. She had the ability to make us feel safe, loved and nurtured at all times. She was precious to her family and made this world a better place.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Sandra McCulloh (Ernie Tucker) and Patricia Crawford (Larry L. Crawford), both of Ashland, and Sonya Manley (Len Manley) of Lexington. They were also blessed with grandchildren Scott Austin Crawford and Stephanie Francis Profit; great-grandchildren Leslie Shane Crawford, Gunnar Crawford and Abbigail Kate Crawford; and many nieces and nephews.

Rest peacefully our beautiful Mother.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, 2008, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Lance Campbell. Entombment will be in Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Community Hospice, 1538 Central Ave., Ashland, KY 41101.

Condolences may be sent to www.steenfuneralhomes.com.

I'll never forget all you did for me as I was growing up and having a difficult time. I have thought about you very often, and especially the fact that we shared a close birthday. Our thoughts are with your girls and all the family who loved you.
