
Evelyn Lewis Cantrell - 1924-2008
Evelyn Lewis Cantrell, 84, of Ashland, Ky., died Oct. 30, 2008, in Cedar Village in Mason, Ohio, surrounded by her loving family following an extended illness.
Mrs. Cantrell was born Jan. 24, 1924, in Ashland, a daughter of the late Leon Lewis and Blanche Thompson Lewis.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Emerson Cantrell, and brothers Harold Vernon Lewis and Robert Eugene Lewis.
She was a former teacher and worked at Clayton Lambert. She was a member of Grace Church of the Nazarene, where she was a Sunday school teacher. She was a member of Crestview Homemakers and a Kentucky colonel.
Survivors include a daughter, Lana, and husband John Fender of Mason, Ohio; sisters Maxine Felty and husband Herbert of Clearmont, Fla., and Barbara Bush and husband Robert of Ashland; grandchildren Rodney C. Hogsten of Ashland, Stephanie Brooke Hogsten of Mason and Scott Fender of Georgetown, Ky.; great-grandchildren Quentin Austin King of Mason, Jack Tristan Hogsten of Catlettsburg, Ky., and Megan Fender of Fort Thomas, Ky.; great-great-grandchild Mahaila Spicer of Fort Thomas; and loving nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2, 2008, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Richard Suman. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008, at the funeral home.
