1949 - 2008

Jennifer Ellen Johnson Lynch (1949-2008)
Jennifer Ellen Johnson Lynch went to be with the Lord after a long battle with cancer.
She was born Nov. 10, 1949, in Lawrenceburg, Ky. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Dub and Virginia Johnson, and in-laws Jack and Kitty Lynch.
After graduating from Anderson County High School, Jennifer attended Fugazzi Business College and Good Samaritan School of Nursing. She received her associate degree in nursing from Ashland Community College and served as president of the KANS Chapter.
Cabell Huntington Hospital was home to a nursing career, where she was a very loving and compassionate nurse who enjoyed her patients and co-workers. She was a member of Ashland First Church of the Nazarene and very active with the youth group and loved her Sunday school class. She loved God and church very much and used her faith on a mission trip to Belize, where she touched many lives. She loved the outdoors, camping, skiing, traveling and the beach.
She will be sadly missed by the love of her life for 39 years, Bill Lynch. She also leaves behind two children, Erin Lynch Shivel and Christopher Lynch, both of Ashland; three grandchildren she loved dearly, Alexis Lynch, Mattie Shivel and Tyler Lynch, all of Ashland; her beloved sister, Paula (Bill) Garrett of Xenia, Ohio; four brothers-in-law, Bob (Jo Etta) Lynch and David (Vicki) Lynch, both of Ashland, Dale (Linda) Lynch of Pikeville, Ky., and Larry Lynch of Hollywood, Fla.; a host of nieces and nephews whom she loved, Laura (Richard) Garrett of Xenia, Jennifer McCauley of Wilmington, Ohio, Melissa (Travis) Grimes of Alabama, Rob (Jackie) Lynch, Ryan Lynch, Sarah Lynch and Matthew (Kate) Lynch, all of Ashland, Michael Lynch of Charlotte, N.C., Josh Lynch of Tampa, Fla., Nicklaus (Lindsey) Lynch of Chicago, Ill., and Katie Lynch of Lexington, Ky.; and special friends Christy Wheeler of Hinton, W.Va., and Linda Curnutte of Ashland.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, at Ashland First Church of the Nazarene with Dr. Steve Ruby, the Rev. David Lynch and the Rev. Mabel Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland and after noon Saturday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, friends may make contributions to Ashland First Church of the Nazarene Building Fund, 2201 Bath Ave., Ashland, KY 41101.

The Lynch Family,
No words can say how much Jennifer meant to so many of us, the only thing that makes things seem easier to bear is knowing that she is in the presence of God looking down on us. May God continue to comfort each of you.

Bill, May God wrap His arms around you and your family. Jennifer was a truly genuine, caring, and copassionate person, long before she entered nursing. I was unaware of her illness. My deepest sympathies to you and yours for this great loss to all of us. I'm grateful that I had the opportunity to know her. Jennifer

Bill and family - I am sorry I was unable to come by the visitation this evening, but I wished to express my condolences. I remember Jennifer from about the time you met as a very sweet and personable person who seemed to change very little over time. Although I know your loss to be overwhelming, I am sure that the thoughts and prayers of many follow you. - Mark

Our deepest sympathy goes to the entire Lynch family. Our family only knew Mrs. Lynch for a couple of years before we moved but what we did know of her was that she was a wonderful & caring person.
Sincerely,
Billy, Chelly, & Darian Grimes(old neighbors that remodeled the house next door)

I wanted to send you all a message to tell you how very sorry I am for your loss. I was so sad when Jennifer told me her cancer was back. As a matter of fact the day she told me I stopped by to bring her flowers because I couldn't get her off my mind. I really didn't want to talk to her that day so I was just going to leave them on her door step-we had found out that week that my Dads colon cancer was back & I knew if she saw me the first thing she would say would be how is your daddy. Something made me ring the bell & she came & I explained that she was on my mind & she touched my hand & asked me how he was. I felt the tears coming & she just hugged me & comforted me. We lost Dad in September & I wanted to come visit Jennifer but, I knew I would cry so I didn't. I regret not coming by. We had such nice chats as I cut her hair. She was such a determined person & so faithful. I know none of you know me but, I know all about you all. She was so proud of all of you & loved you so much. What a blessed family you were to have her & I feel blessed that she was my friend. I know her & Dad are in heaven having a chat like they did when their paths would cross in my shop. Again I am so sorry for your loss.

Jennifer was someone I was PROUD to call friend. She was an example to me of what it means to be A CHRISTIAN. She was a LADY in every facet of the word. I am sooooo sad that I did not know how ill she was and that I did not get the chance to tell her what she ment to me. Every time I saw her it was like we hadn't missed a day. She was the best and so many of my Nursing School memories are tied to her. She took all of us in and we studied at her home regularly. Heaven is surly a better place to have her and we are deminished by her passing. I will miss her and remember her all the days of my life. Erin and Chris I know how much she loved you both!In fact she is that love is the very reason I ever wanted to have a child of my own. She was there for me during some very dark times and through some of the best. My deepest sympathy to your family. Robin Hale ACC Nursing Class of 1986
