Paula Sue Ferguson

Paula Sue Ferguson, 58, of Ashland, formerly of Portsmouth, Ohio, beloved wife of Jeffrey Ferguson, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Feb. 6, 2009, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.

She was the daughter of the late Paul Queen and Elizabeth Queen Kielmar. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Lowell Ferguson.

Paula was a remarkable nurse for 24 years and had a special place in her heart for each and every patient. She was a very active member of First United Methodist Church for 29 years. During that time, she made many loving and kind friends. Paula was also a dedicated member of the Ashland Area Emmaus Community.

In addition to being a loving wife, she was also a wonderful mother of three children, Susan Tygart and her husband, Jeff, of Ashland, David Warner of Ashland and Julia Ferguson of Lexington. She was the proud grandmother of 11 grandchildren, Amanda Ashby, Brandon Tygart, Cierra Tygart, Tiffani Tygart, Alexis Tygart, Alyssa Tygart, Zachary Newman, Justin McDowell, Trent Warner, Nikki Warner and McKenzie Warner, all of whom she loved very much. Paula is also survived by her mother-in-law, Emma Slone Ferguson; her sister-in-law, Stephanie Ferguson Pentiuk and her husband, Larry, of Lancaster, Ohio; two nephews, Dr. Scott Pentiuk and his wife, Brynn, of Hebron and Matthew Pentiuk of Columbus; a niece, Betsy Pentiuk Sabo and her husband, Derek, of Mount Vernon, Ohio; and their wonderful baby boy, Dax.

She is now with her King and with loved ones who went before her. She will be sadly missed by all.

There will be a memorial service in honor of Paula at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009, at First United Methodist Church, 1811 Carter Ave., Ashland, with the Rev. Gene Pillow presiding. All are welcome to attend. Interment will be in Wheelersburg Memorial Gardens in Wheelersburg, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, friends may make contributions to the First United Methodist Church Food Pantry, 1811 Carter Ave., Ashland, KY 41101.

Arrangements are under the direction of Steen Funeral Homes.

Paula was such an important part of my young adult life. I never knew a more loving soul. So many things she was right about--she was smart and hard working. She loved her children so much. I am saddened by her passing.
