Robert E. "Buster" Barnes, Jr. Click for Condolences      Printable Version
1955 - 2009

Robert E. Buster as we know him entered this life December 13, 1955 in Huntington, West Virginia and departed this life February 2, 2009 in Ashland, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert E. Barnes, Sr. and Mabel Leona Venable Harris. He is survived by his sons Antuan Barnes, Marquele Barnes of Columbus, Ohio, Shane Taylor and Saintarri Taylor of Ashland, Ky. and Jason of Huntington, WV; Five Grandchildren Shequila, Miya, Myeshia, Marcus Barnes of Columbus, Ohio and Kya Ray Taylor of Ashland; One sister Donna Jean Venable of Bridgeport, CT; One brother Anthony Wayne Barnes of Atlanta, GA; Two aunts Norma Jean Woolfolk of Huntington, WV. and Shirley Ann Venable of Kearny, New Jersey; One uncle Louis P. Venable of Covington, VA; He also leaves a special friend Marmetta Barrows of Ashland, Ky. and a host of cousins and friends.

Buster was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and worked at the fire station in Huntington, WV. during his younger years, and worked at the Bob Evans Restaurant in Ashland. He was a loving and kind father, brother, grandfather, nephew, cousin and friend. He was a gentle man who brought us all laughter because he likes to be a jokester and would do anything for anyone if it was in his power to do it. We all will dearly miss him as he has brought great joy in our lives.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Monday at New Hope Baptist Church. Burial will be in Winslow Cemetery in Boyd County.

Friends may call after noon Monday at the church.

Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

I know I’m really late, but did not know of my life long friends passing. So long Buster. Well done, you good and faithful servant. If it is Gods will, we will meet again.

Our prayers are with Buster's family and friends. The funeral and repast were very nice and I was humbled to be a part of it. I will miss seeing him sitting with Marmetta outside of Scope Towers when I visit there.

Tonight, when you look up, don't think of them as stars. Think of them as porch lights, welcoming Buster safely home. Sending you thoughts of peace during your time of sorrow. His Cousin, Edwarda Moore
