
Nana Mae Kramer - 1924-2009
Nana Mae Kramer, 84, of Purdy, Mo., formerly of Raceland, Ky., passed away at 7:25 p.m. March 6, 2009, in Lawrence County Manor in Mount Vernon, Mo., following an extended illness.
Mrs. Kramer was born June 7, 1924, the daughter of the late Marguerite Marie George and Joseph Neil George. She is also preceded in death by her loving husband, Wayne Melvin Kramer; and a daughter, Jenka Lynn Kramer.
A graduate of Raceland High School, Nan attended St. Josephs School of Nursing in Lexington, Ky., where she became a LPN. She practiced nursing for 47 years, caring for many family, friends and neighbors before retiring in 1990. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Raceland and Eastern Star. She lived an active life and enjoyed bowling, bingo and singing. She was an avid reader and a dedicated gardener. She enjoyed cooking and feeding her family. She was happiest when she was in the service of those in need. She will be missed by all.
Survivors include a son, Robert Joseph Holloway, and daughter-in-law Cindy Davis Holloway of South Point, Ohio; two daughters, Janina Marie Dickerson and son-in-law Ralph Dickerson of El Paso, Texas, and Nancy Elizabeth Grissom and son-in-law Josef Grissom of Purdy; a stepdaughter, Camille Leist; grandchildren Bradley Lee Dickerson, Lynn Marie Cox, Shala Deanne Sharp, Scott Wayne Dickerson and Morgan Elizabeth Grissom; and a great-grandchild, Ireland Paige Cox.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, March 13, 2009, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland. Burial will be in Sexton Cemetery in Danleyton, Ky.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and at noon Friday at the funeral home.
