Orville Adkins (1922-2009)
Orville Adkins, 86, of Ashland, Ky., died at his residence, April 25, 2009, surrounded by family and friends.
He was born Sept. 25, 1922, in Argillite, Ky., a son of the late Arthur and Leona Oliver Adkins.
He was retired from Armco Steel with 38 years of service, was a U.S. Army veteran and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are his loving wife of 54 years, Doris Stevens Adkins of Ashland; two sons, John Adkins and wife, Sandra, and Orville Adkins Jr., all of Ashland; daughter, Debbie Wooten of Ashland; sisters, Sharon Yvonne Mosier and husband, Ted, of Ashland and Goldie Marie Hines of Jacksonville, Fla.; grandchildren, Aaron Adkins, Courtney Wooten, Zachary Adkins, Chase Adkins and Rachel Adkins, all of Ashland; and one great-grandchild, Isabelle Adkins.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2009, at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel in Ashland by Pastor Jimm Smedley. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery.
